2 What is Hate Crime? Hate crime is any criminal offence committed against a person or property that is motivated by an offender's hatred of someone because of their: race, colour, ethnic origin, nationality or national origins religion gender or gender identity sexual orientation disability

3 Victim Support An independent, national charity for people affected by crime. Trained local volunteers offer free, confidential emotional and practical support. Victims of crime referred by police and other organisations, or contact us directly. The Witness Service- in every criminal court in England and Wales

4 The Hate Crime Project:
Hate Crime Project run by Victim Support Dedicated Hate Crime Project Manager covers whole of East Sussex, based in Hastings and Lewes Working in partnership with East Sussex County Council and Voluntary and Community groups countywide Providing emotional and practical support to all victims of hate crime Identify and train volunteer advocates from their local communities Increase awareness and reporting of hate crimes in East Sussex
