STEM Lead Teacher Lari Powell Elementary - FCUSD

What is STEM? Science – Science is a way of learning about the world around you. Scientists observe phenomena. They ask questions and do tests to find out about how things work. Technology – Technology is using science to help solve problems. Engineering – Engineering is using science to solve real-world problems. Engineers find ways to meet our needs. Math – Math is used to organize and solve problems in science, technology, and engineering.

Ways I Can Offer Support Demonstration Lessons: I create, prepare, and implement STEM lessons in your classroom. Just contact me at lpowell@fcusd.org to set up a visit. STEM Network: We will have a collaborative group of teachers from each school site that will meet 2-3 times a year, with ongoing digital support to share a network of ideas, professional development, and resources. Professional Development: I offer site level and district level professional development on NGSS, STEM, and integrated unit planning. Guidance/Feedback: I can offer curriculum suggestions and support as well as give collaborative feedback on instructional strategies and STEM related ideas.
