Presentation transcript:

COVER- I like the text I have used on my Cover. I used a white text with a Black outline because I didn’t Want to have too many different Colors on my cover and I already Had red, yellow and black and I didn’t want to add anymore of one color so I thought White on white would go well if I put a black outline around it. I chose the text on My front cover by thinking about British music and I thought Glastonbury is the Biggest festival in England so I’ll write about that and I’ll also talk about 2 British artists. Cover lines are common on magazine covers so I am using conventions of other magazines as I have also placed them where they are normally placed on magazines however I havent used any forms for my cover lines I have just put them where I want, I have not seen another magazine with them in the same place. I researched magazines to see about Where to put these and it is a common convention for them to be split sides and either side of an image however some magazines have them all on one side.

COVER- This is the image I put on my cover. I think this image suits the genre of my magazine as he looks retro and like he is out of a band such as artic monkeys or PEACE. I also like this image because I think it stands out in black and white because the text is such bright colors. In no way have I used any forms from other magazines as I think this should be original as it is my own. However I did use conventions from a normal magazine so my magazine didn’t look different for example I kept it portrait. I have used a form from This magazine as I have Used a similar image for Example both people on The cover are making eye Contact with the camera And they are also both Looking quite angry. I Have used the convention Of a magazine where I Have placed a big image In the middle of the Page. Where as this Magazine has no eye Contact with the camera.

How does your media product represent particular social groups? In my magazine I have represented a group of artists that are all of one race which is British. Every artists I have used in my magazine on the contents page has been british and the coverlines I have used have been british to for example glastonbury festival. This shows my magazine is representing a particular group which is a group of british raced people. My magazine is focussed on British made music by using artists such as George Ezra. All magazines represent different groups of people for example this one uses a group of girls so it using sexuality in its magazine. If you look on my contents it is all british.

CONTENTS PAGE On my contents page I did not copy a magazine I kept it to my own ideas however I have used conventions from other magazines such as this one. I have used the same structure where the text is down one side and the images down the other side. I have also got the title of the page at the top which Is contents and the name of the magazine. On the contents page I have also used similar colors To a lot of other music magazine contents page which Is a conventi on of the page, I have used the forms of this Magazines cover as I have used the same colors. I did This because I thought red and black stood out on a white background.

CONTENTS PAGE I have used the form of this Magazine on my contents page I have used the same color Text and I have set it out Similarly as well, I have used a heading of the name of the Band and what page number And then under summarised What the page is about and What they are going to read.

COVER- This is my masthead for my magazine cover. I like the title I have chosen for my magazine because it symbolizes my magazine as being hot and new! I like the font I have chose because it has curved edges and sharp letters which is like a flame I think the color I have picked is good too because it Is so bright and stands out as a main headline. I also like the heading I have used ‘lighting the fire for British music’ I did this because I needed something to do with my magazine which is British music and also it fits in well with my headline being ‘FLAME’. In the title I haven’t used a form from any other magazine except ‘NME’ and that was only because I liked these colors on one of there magazines. I used the convention of having my masthead big and bold at the top of the page where it stands out. This is common with all magazines. I have used a convention from the magazine KERANG again As my masthead is placed in the top center of the page and Also the coverline is placed just below towards the right Which is also the same as KERANG! magazine.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Institution I think my magazine is quite similar to NME and those types of magazines so my magazine would probably be sold and presented by the company IPC MEDIA I think because they own NME I think they would also get my magazine far in the music magazine industry as well as NME because NME is a very big and popular magazine.

Who are your target audience and how did you attract and address them?

I think my magazine FLAME and the magazine NME are similar due to the artists they talk about they’re all kind of young and upcoming artist, also the fonts they use are all big and bright are similar to my magazine FLAME. I also think layouts are quite similar also.

This is Conor, Conor is a young british boy who is 19 years old This is Conor, Conor is a young british boy who is 19 years old. Conor listens to all sorts of music but enjoys specific bands and artists such as Peace and Bombay Bicycle Club. On weekends Conor likes going to the pub and listening to live music as well as getting drunk. He also likes going to parties and raves with his mates where they can also get drunk and play music such as Peace, Artic Monkeys and even some drum and bass. Conor is a regular visitor of Leeds festival which he has been going to since he was 16. Conor also likes going to gigs and concerts. He saw PEACE live 4 times last year!

My magazine is targeted at people who are young and into indie music such as my character Conor who I have described and showed you in the previous slide. I have priced the magazine at £2.99 to attract my audience which is a standard price for a music magazine this is so young students can afford it and that people wont think it is overpriced. My magazine is priced similarly to the magazine NME I have done this because the magazines are similar. This magazine is aimed at young people like Conor who like going to festivals and gigs and seeing bands live. I’ve advertised the price on the front cover so people know how much it is when they look at it.

I also addressed my magazine to my target audience by putting young artists on the cover to show my magazine is targeting young people who are into young artists and bands. The artists I have used in my magazine are artists that are maybe more popular to younger people around 15-30 rather than 40+ people. These are a group of boys I picture who would be the type to buy my magazine.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Apple Mac Computer I made the product using these computers. I like using these computers as they are easy to use and they have lots of different soft wares this is good because it gives you an option of which to use for example for the article I used InDesign. What I also like about using a apple mac is that the screen is very big this is good because you can see a couple of pages at a time.

Nikon Camera For my images I used this Nikon camera. This is a top quality camera providing me with quality photos. I took my photos in the media classroom so I can get a good background and use the equipment they have provided to make our pictures even better for example the strobe flash, the backdrop and the soft boxes.
