I hope you have had a brilliant summer break and you are ready for a new year! We have lots planned so let’s do this! Topic: Values We have changed the way we look at values and this year we are going to begin by looking at them in more detail. Our first week and a half will be spent understanding our values, systems and processes so we can feel more settled at the weeks move on. Topic: Discover-Me We have taken a new approach to our topics this year and decided to make them last over two terms rather than one. Our first topic will run until Christmas. It will focus on discovering more about ourselves, our families, where we live and the wider world. Changes to the start of the day Our classroom door will open at 8:45am where a member of the Aquila team will greet the children as they come in. If you have any messages or need to make an appointment, please mention it at the door. The register will be taken at 8:55am. If your child is being picked up by someone else, please mention it at the door, or send an email to the office as soon as possible. Homework Our homework choice boards will continue to run as they did last year. You can find them inside your child's homework book but also on the Aquila pages on our school website. P.E. This will continue to be taught by Mr. Martin on a Thursday, however, it is likely that other PE sessions will take place at various times so please ensure a PE kit is in school at all times throughout the week. This should include shorts/jogging bottoms, trainers, and a school PE shirt. Quick Reminders Water Bottles: Please ensure your child has a water bottle in school during the week. It will be sent home on a Friday to get washed ready to be refilled on the following Monday. Bags: Please ensure your child has only a book bag and PE bag in school. Rucksacks are not necessary and take up too much room in our small cloakroom. If your child needs a rucksack for a particular reason (e.g. overnight stay with relatives) please let us know.

It will be a great opportunity to ask any questions you have and it will give us a chance to tell you important information about your child’s class and the learning that will take place across the year. A note from the teacher… I am excited for this new year and I am looking forward to seeing changes bring about success for our children. In order for things to run smoothly in Aquila, it’s helpful for me to know about any problems or concerns that you may have about your child and their learning, relationships or any other matter that leaves you feeling unsure. It’s important to give time to these matters so please make an appointment to see me after school, should you need to discuss things further. I will be available for a short time at the classroom door in the morning where you will be able to make an appointment or alternatively you can email the office to make an arrangement there. I am proud of Aquila class and it’s important to me that children and parents feel the same way. Thank you for your support.
