A Fairy Tale Comparing and Contrasting Project By Darienn Abernathy Cinderella by Jenny Giles and Cinderella-The Real Story (author unknown) A Fairy Tale Comparing and Contrasting Project By Darienn Abernathy

Main Characters Cinderella 2 stepsisters Evil stepmother Fairy godmother Cinderella is obedient because she left the ball at midnight like her fairy-godmother told her to. Cinderella-The Real Story Cinderella Stepsisters Fairy godmother Cinderella is dishonest because she hides her things in her stepsisters’ rooms and claims that they took her things

Setting Cinderella Cinderella-The Real Story The story takes place, a long time ago, at the ball in the palace and in Cinderella’s house. Cinderella-The Real Story The story takes place in modern day at Cinderella’s house and at the prince’s ball.

Five Important Plot Events Cinderella Cinderella cleans and does her chores as told. The invitation to the ball arrives and Cinderella gets excited. The stepmother and stepsisters make Cinderella sew their dresses and say that she can go to the ball after she does her chores that will never get finished. Cinderella’s fairy godmother comes and creates a dress for her. Cinderella leaves the ball and the prince brings her back her shoe the next day and get married.

Five Important Plot Events Fractured Cinderella Cinderella is blaming her stepsisters for the bad things that she did. The invitation to the ball arrives. The stepsisters rip Cinderella’s dress. The stepsisters get the phonebook. They call the fairy godmother and she helps them fix Cinderella’s dress.

The Lessons Learned The main idea or lesson from the original Cinderella is “what goes around comes around” The main idea or lesson from the fractured Cinderella is “honesty is the best policy”

More or Less Alike? I think that the original Cinderella and the fractured Cinderella are more different because… The stepsisters are originally mean but Cinderella blames them for everything she did In the fractured story Cinderella gets caught trying burn down the prince’s castle because he only wanted the dress and slippers In the fractured story Cinderella didn’t get her name by sitting in the cinders, she got it because she like to set the kitchen on fire

Story Elements Magic Villain Hero Talking creatures Start with “once upon a time” End with “they lived happily ever after” Problem and Solution
