Project Description Steelhead Recovery Plan Inventory and assess opportunities to enhance habitat for fish while maintaining the diversion of irrigation water in this historic side channel of the Yakima River. Identify options for improved control of water diverted from the Yakima River, management of sediment, flooding issues, and protection and enhancement of existing and potential fish habitat. Goals & Objectives Increase the quantity and quality of accessible off-channel rearing habitat for juvenile steelhead, spring Chinook and Coho salmon in the Thorp Mill Ditch side channel of the Yakima River Identify opportunities to improve instream and riparian habitat conditions Determine landowner willingness to participate in restoration and/or easement projects Produce preliminary designs for high priority actions Identify potential programs and funding sources
