The most common reasons for taking the PSAT/NMSQT are to: Receive feedback on strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college study. See how student performs on an admissions test and compare with that of others applying to college. Enter the competition for scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Program. This is the entry into the National Merit Program. Help prepare for the ACT/SAT. Students will become familiar with the kinds of questions and the exact directions they will see on the SAT. Improve test taking skills in a timed setting. Receive information from colleges and scholarship opportunities if student checks “yes" to Student Search Service.
