Ecology Review

Draw a food chain that has 5 trophic levels Draw a food chain that has 5 trophic levels. Label each trophic level with the following terms: autotroph, heterotroph, producer, primary consumer, secondary consumer, tertiary consumer, quaternary consumer, carnivore, herbivore.

Take your food chain and convert it into a into a biomass pyramid Take your food chain and convert it into a into a biomass pyramid. Label the trophic levels with the quantity of biomass as each level. Start with 632, 980 kg.

Explain what would happen if a farmer sprayed an insecticide on the bugs and all the bugs died.

What is missing in this food web?

Identify the different types of pyramids

Explain why herbivores eat more efficiently than carnivores and link this to why lions don’t need natural predators to control their population.

Define the following terms and give examples of each. Community Ecosystem Biome Population Abiotic and biotic

List the 8 characteristics of life

Abiotic vs. Biotic What is the difference between abiotic and biotic What is the difference between living and non living What is the difference between abiotic/biotic factors and living/nonliving?

Cycles Draw the water cycle What is transpiration?

Cycles Draw the nitrogen cycle What is the role of bacteria? On your drawing circle where humans impact the nitrogen cycle.

Cycles Draw the carbon cycle What is the role of bacteria On your drawing circle how humans impact the carbon cycle
