Every Thursday is outdoor games - children need a filled water bottle and trainers. Fruit, drinking cup Reading book and Communication Diary – please ask children to hand to teacher if there is a message.

Reading in school All children will have an individual and a group read each week. Individual reads will focus on word reading. Group reading will focus on guiding comprehension to include inference.

Reading at home Reading homework - Try to read for 10 – 15 minutes daily. Keep it fun! Please make a comment in the communication diary. Try to encourage your child to read a range of different texts. Keep reading to your child!

Feedback Symbols We use a range of symbols when giving feedback in books. Hard work Target Met Next step Good Presentation Self assessment Feedback – green and pink. Checklists Improvement

Learning logs An opportunity to share and extend their learning. Use as a dialogue about their learning. We are very happy to look at, share and celebrate any work your child has done. This is an opportunity for the children to get into the habit of doing additional homework before they go the The Junior School.

Thursday open afternoon A chance for you and your child to share the week’s work. Confidentiality A chance to celebrate

Can you lend a helping hand? We are extremely keen to create a parental skills database. Do you have something to offer? You will need a DBS check. Hampton Court Trip on Wednesday 9th November – we would be grateful for your help. We will be asking for helpers nearer the time. Owl puppets

Library Help rota Returning books – Please ensure books are returned regularly. Barn Owls have their library session on Friday afternoon.

Drawing and Talking What is Drawing and Talking? Drawing and talking is a safe and effective method of working with children to help them to overcome any emotional barriers that may be affecting their learning and behaviour. The core of the method is encouraging the children to draw with a person they feel comfortable with regularly at the same time each week, and this person asking some non-intrusive questions about the child’s drawings. If you feel that your child may benefit in any way, please let us know. We will be starting the first round shortly.
