Connecting Kids to Justice Day 2

Jesus Gives Us Courage! How many of you have ever been in a storm? Did you hear thunder crash and see lightning light up the sky? Did you see the wind blowing the trees, or heavy rain?   Storms can be scary, can’t they? Jesus gives us courage when we are scared and asks us to do the same for others.

Catholic Social Teaching As Catholics, we believe is our responsibility to care for the poor and vulnerable. To be vulnerable means to be someone who needs special care or protection. .

Suzy is a farmer in Madagascar, an island off the coast of Africa Suzy is a farmer in Madagascar, an island off the coast of Africa. Many farmers like Suzy depend on creation for resources like clean water and seeds so they can grow their own food. But, the changes in our climate, like big storms, floods and droughts, was making it harder and harder for her to farm.

CRS taught Suzy a new way to plant rice that used less water and fewer seeds. Her neighbors laughed at her for trying it. But when her fields produced more rice than theirs did, no one laughed anymore. Instead, people in the village asked her to teach them the new method too.

We Can Make a Difference Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has a special program that supports farmers, growers and communities with money, tools and training. When we donate money this week, it will be given to CRS to continue their work.

Talk About It What are some ways your family can conserve water? What are some things you can do to help food last longer in your house? What would you like to plant and watch grow?
