The Dust Bowl By Vivek, Felix, Eugenia

The dust bowl was a time of severe dust storms causing major ecological and agricultural damage to prairie lands in the 1930s.

If you get rid of the cover of the topsoil, the dirt will turn into dust and blow away causing dust storms.

The dust bowl mainly occurred on farms and “No mans land”, but it also hit cities.

More people than ever owned stocks and prices where high. Then suddenly on October 29, 1929 'black Tuesday the stock market crashed! In just 3 weeks 30 billion American dollars had been lost.

Many farmers were forced to move on to California and were looking for jobs as migrant workers.

The dust bowl occurred when the great depression was in full swing. This not only made it difficult to make a living, but it also was difficult to survive.

Since people had to move away from the dustbowl, states like California became overpopulated.

Scorpions came in mass numbers during the Dust Bowl. Add their stings and dust and your eyes, you’ll probably think that scene was terrible. (Part of the dust bowl was in the Texas panhandle where deserts occurred in Texas).

The dust bowl affected the land because over 3 tons of dust for every American alive drifted across the country.

The Dust Bowl affected many towns and villages and the people in them. The families that where affected also by dust pneumonia which killed thousands of people.

Drought had a major impact on the dust bowl. The water wasn’t there to stop it’s affect on mankind.

The dust bowl ripped out crops leaving farmers penniless. To prevent this in the future,

During the dust bowl, the enormous sand, dust, and wind storms swept up all the wheat that had recently been laid out over all the land.

During the period of the dust bowl, millions of farmers left their homes with misery struck families looking for new jobs.

When the grass turned into dust, it caused “black blizzards” which were the dust bowl’s dust storms. These storms made it often for people to be in poverty.

The dust blowing around covered houses, suffocated livestock and also made kids sick.

The dust bowl did not stop at little destruction. It made many prosperous cities poor.

Credits In conclusion, to protect our country from this disaster, we must follow these tips so that a day in America is a good one. You should ask to join the soil conservation network to protect America’s topsoil. We should conserve extra topsoil in case of drought. We should also take better care off farms so that the dust bowl won’t happen again. Credits: original info, images from Mrs. Fry’s wiki, Eugenia, Felix and Vivek did the typing.
