2040 Long Range Transportation Plan Update Goals and Objectives February 18, 2016

PURPOSE OF THE LRTP Blueprint to maintain and enhance our regional transportation system Consider current needs and forecasted future growth List of multi-modal transportation projects to be funded through 2040 (cost feasible) Maintain currency by updating every five years to consider changes in growth and travel patterns * Current 2035 LRTP was adopted in March 2012

ELEMENTS OF THE LRTP 2040 LRTP Cost Feasible Plan Goals & Objectives Data Forecasts Needs Assessment Financial Resources

Goals and Objectives The LRTP Steering Committee has met on two occasions to develop and review the Goals and Objectives for the 2040 LRTP. Goals and Objectives serve as the guiding principles of the plan. They will help determine the projects that are ultimately included in the plan. Will be the basis for developing the project evaluation criteria

Goals and Objectives The goals and objectives considered the following: The Eight Planning Factors in MAP-21 The Emerging Issues that have been Identified by FDOT and FHWA The six Planning Goals included in the Florida Transportation Plan (FTP) Transportation related Goals and Objectives found in local Comprehensive Planning Documents

Vision and Mission Statements Vision Statement: Our vision is to provide a high quality, safe, efficient, and cost-effective multi-modal transportation system that enhances economic vitality, military missions, and quality of life while protecting the environment and promoting efficient system management and operation.

Vision and Mission Statements Mission Statement: To preserve and enhance transportation systems that are safe, efficient, socially and environmentally responsible, technologically advanced, financially constrained, coordinated with land use patterns, and allow for modal choice.

Goals Goal A: A transportation system that is safe and secure. Goal B: A transportation system that is user-friendly and maximizes mobility. Goal C: A transportation system that provides for the effective movement of goods and people. Goal D: A transportation system that supports a high quality of life respectful of the environment, public health and vulnerable users. Goal E: A transportation system that is multimodal, integrated and connected. Goal F: A transportation system that is maintained and operated efficiently. Goal G: A transportation system that includes consistent, continuing, cooperative and comprehensive planning processes.

Objectives Included in the report are the objectives that will support the goals.

Action Requested This item if for review at this time and comments are requested no later than March 18, 2016. This item will be back before the TPO and advisory committee in April for action.
