-the Israelites traveled through the wilderness for 40 years -Moses led the people to Mt. Sinai -God demonstrated his faithfulness to his people and worked many miracles -a miracle is an extraordinary event that it beyond human power and brought about by God. -when the people were starving, God sent small birds, quail, and provided manna, a bread-like substance, from the desert shrubs -when the people were thirsty, God directed Moses to strike a certain rock, from which water poured

The Law -At Mt. Sinai, God reminded Moses that the Israelites were God’s people -On top of Mt. Sinai, God gave Moses the Ten Commandments -the laws of God’s covenant -Moses wrote them down on two tablets and set up a stone altar with 12 pillars, representing the 12 tribes of Israel -Moses sealed the covenant by sacrificing some young bulls -blood=sacrifice

A Dwelling Place: A Place of Worship -the Israelites began making the dwelling place for God: -a meeting tent=moveable place of worship -the ark of the covenant: a wooden box in which the tablets of the Ten Commandments were kept -several altars -pieces of furniture needed for worship -vestments for the priests
