Essay Questions Essay questions will typically have two parts; Describe Explain You need to address both parts of the question in your answer.

Overall Structure Introduction Body Paragraph x3 Conclusion

Detailed Structure Introduction- identify the text, author, state your points and use key words from the question. Describe paragraph x1. Describe the feature of the text that the question has asked you about. Include evidence and explain how it supports your description. Explain paragraphs x2. Explain TWO DIFFERENT ways that that feature of the text was important/helpful/interesting/whatever the question asks you about. Conclusion- restate main points, key words from the essay question. Remind us why the text is important.
