Lifespan Wolverines live for 10-12 years.

Physical Characteristics Wolverines are 31-44 inches long. Male wolverines are 25-70 lbs. and are 30-40%larger than females. Wolverines are white when they are kits and brown when they are adults. They can be albino.

Diet Wolverines are carnivores and will eat carcasses of large deer-like animals. They also eat small mammals that they kill like ground squirrel.

Population and Breeding Habits There are fewer than 500 wolverines alive. 32 of them successfully breed.

Range Wolverines live in the lower 48 states like Idaho and Montana.

Adaptations Young wolverines are white to blend in with their snowy habitat. Wolverines have razor sharp teeth to tear dried and moist meat. Wolverines have sharp claws to rip meat.

Fun Facts Wolverines have 2-3 kits. Wolverines are in the weasel family. Wolverines have kits in the snow. Wolverines spend the winters in coniferous forests.
