American GI Forum, McLennan County Scholarship Application (Deadline 01 April 2017) The American GI Forum of McLennan County will be awarding scholarships for students in financial need and who plan on attending a college, university, or trade school in the fall of 2017 CRITERIA: Applicants must meet the following criteria before being considered for this scholarship: Be of Hispanic heritage. Financial need. Performed Community / School service. Extra Curricular activities. 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 Scale. Be in the top 25% of his/her graduating class. 250 word typed essay on “Describe your financial need for applying for this scholarship”. ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must meet the following eligibility before being considered for this scholarship: Be an area high school graduating senior. Provide an acceptance letter from college or universities. Provide a copy of SAT or ACT test scores. Proof of community / school service. (Attach an Itemize list of community / school service with the scholarship application). Provide an itemize list of extra curricular activities (sport, band, clubs, JROTC etc). Provide a current high school transcript. Provide two letters of recommendation. One letter must be from one of your teachers and or high school counselor. DEADLINE: All applicants must submit the application NLT 01 April 2017. Mail applications along with all required documents to the American GI Forum, McLennan County at P.O. Box 32562, Waco, Texas. 76703. A completed application is defined as, an application with all required documents as listed above. Additional copies of this scholarship application may be requested via email leonard.montelongo@wacoisd.org NOTE: If students do not provide all necessary documents, their application will be disqualified for consideration. 2
