Argumentative essay- You have been asked to write an argumentative essay about the necessity of a College Education. Use information from the sources listed to support your claim in your essay. Manage your time carefully so that you can: • read the passages • plan your response • write your response • revise and edit your response. Be sure to: • include a claim; • address counterclaims; • use evidence from multiple sources • avoid overly relying on one source. Your response should be in the form of a multiparagraph essay. Sources: Pg 58- 5 ways Ed pays chart Pg. 61 Analogies Pg. 63- Article about the level of college education compared to increase in earnings Pg. 67- Obama’s Speech Pg. 78- Why College isn’t worth it Pg. 79- Actually, College is very much worth it. Tips: Write the opinion that is presented the most in the sources. (must use more than 1 source) Claim: One precise statement at the end of your introduction paragraph. -Don’t use “I” wrong: I think college is necessary. Right: College is necessary. Cite by title or author’s name 4 paragraph outline: 1- Introduction 2- Body w/ evidence to support the claim 3- Counterclaim with rebuttal 4- Conclusion
