Facts 1st ever Paralympics took place in 1960 in Rome 2016 Paralympics took place in RIO!!!!!!!! 163 countries took part 4359 athletes competed There were 534 events and 22 different sports There were 225 medals for women, 265 for men and 38 mixed medals Team GB came 2nd in the medal table winning an amazing 147 medals
