400 Meter runner Diego Palomeque Echevarria was the 12th athlete banned from competing and sent home from the 2012 Games by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) following a positive drug test. He tested positive for “testosterone of exogenous origin” on July 26th and the results of a second test on August 12th confirmed those results.

5 The First and Only Gold Medal for Argentina
On Friday, August 10th, Argentinean athlete Sebastian Crismanich won the first gold medal for his home country. And it would be their only gold of the games. This was also the first ever medal won by Argentina in taekwondo. "In the moments before an Olympic Games, the mere thought of seeing the flag up above, of hearing the anthem play and of me with a medal hanging on my chest, gave me chills and made my legs shake," he said. "Now that it happens to me, it's truly more than I dreamed.“
