2 Rhodes 2007 Rhodes 2007 was bigger than the Winter Olympics in numbers of competitors (3000+) Extreme heat The Jersey team went through 1,000 kilos of ice in aiding competitors with their recovery, but it all proved worthwhile as Jersey topped the medals table. Their medal tally of 30 golds, 35 silvers and 27 bronze put them six golds ahead of the Faroe Island who were second

4 Aland 2009 2900 competitors Athletes and spectators swelled Aland’s population between the end of June and early July by an estimated 12 % and made the 13th NatWest Island Games the largest sporting occasion witnessed by local residents. The final medal table showed the Faroe Islands to be the strongest overall, amassing a total of 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 24 Bronze medals. Next came the Isle of Man with a tally of 29-30-29 while Jersey was third with figures of 24-37-19. Daylight for 23 hours!

6 Isle of Wight 2011 The sheer number of participants was a record at 3435! Guernsey were leading meal winners, amassing a total of 40 Gold, 42 Silver and 25 Bronze medals. Next came the Isle of Man, sandwiched between the Channel Islands, with a tally of 26-22-20, followed by third placed Jersey with figures of 23-30-30. Stayed in caravans!

8 Bermuda 2013 This was the first Games to be held outside of Europe, as well as the largest sporting event ever hosted by Bermuda Highest standard of sprint events with many Olympians competing The athletics relay team won the Bill Custard award for performance of the Games following the gold medal Isle of Man topped the medal table, followed by Bermuda and Jersey
