There are some things we don’t want to accomplish in our assembly this morning.

We don’t want… vain worship (observing commands that glorify man, contradict God’s word)

This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far away from Me. But in vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men. Matt 15:8-9

We don’t want… vain worship ignorant worship (not fully understanding God’s holy Person & Divine character)

Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I observe that you are very religious in all respects. For while I was passing through and examining the objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription, TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. What therefore you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you.” Acts 17:22-23

unknowledgable worship We don’t want… vain worship ignorant worship unknowledgable worship (not knowing the true implications of the New Testament)

Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall you worship the Father. You worship that which you do not know…” Jn 4:21-22a

What we do want is worship to God that is in spirit & truth.

But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. Jn 4:23-24

Thank you for coming this morning. Our only desire is to worship God and serve Him.

…for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve. Matt 4:10
