About the Solar System Our Solar System has 10 of the main planets :Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. It includes the satellites of the planets, numerous comets, asteroids, and meteoroids.

THE SUN The sun is the star at the center of the Solar System and is far the most important source of energy for life on earth. The distance from the sun to Earth is 149.6 million km. Surface temperature of the sun is 5,505 degrees celsius, and it is 4.6 billion years old.

Venus Mercury Mercury is the smallest planet in the Solar System and the one closest to the sun, with an orbital period of about 88 earth days, which is much faster than any other planet in the solar system. The distance from sun is 57.91 million km Venus is the second planet from the Sun orbiting rotation period of any planet in the Solar System, and unusually rotates in the opposite direction to most other planets. It has no natural satellite. The distance from the sun is 108.2 million km.

Mars Earth Earth is the 3rd plant from the sun the densest planet in the solar system Age : 4.543 Billion years Distance from Sun: 149.6 Million km Population: 7.125 billion ( 2013 ) Mars is the fourth planet from the sun and the second smallest planet in the Solar System after Mercury. Distance from Sun: 227.9 million km Length of Day: 1 hour and 40 minutes

Jupiter Saturn Jupiter is the 5th planet from he sun and the largest In the solar system. It is giant planet with a mass one –thousandth that of the sun , but two and the half times that of all the other plants in the solar system combined. Distance from sun: 778.5 million km Saturn is the 6th planet from the sun and the second-largest in the solar system after Jupiter. It is gas giant with an average radius about nine times that of Earth Distance from Sun: 1.433 billion km

Neptune Uranus Uranus is the seventh planet from he sun . It has the third – largest planetary radius and fourth-largest mass in the solar system. Distance from the Sun: 2.877 Billion km Neptune is the 8th and farthest known planet from the sun the solar system. It is fourth-largest planet by diameter and the 3rd by mass . Among the giant planets in the solar system, Neptune is the most dense distance from sun: 4.498 billion km
