1066 How much do you remember? Year 7 Revision 1066 How much do you remember?

Task 1 You will see a question with 4 different answers. Each question asks for your opinion. All you need to do is decide which answer you believe is correct. You will then get into a group with the others who agree with you. You will have 10 minutes to come up with your agreed reasons for why you chose that answer. You will then feedback to the class.

Question 1 Who had the strongest claim to the throne when Edward the confessor died? Harald Hardrada Harold Godwinson William the Duke of Normandy None of them had a stronger claim.

Why did William the Conqueror win the Battle of Hastings? Question 2 Why did William the Conqueror win the Battle of Hastings? He had an effective mix of Soldiers, Cavalry and Archers. The Anglo Saxons had fought recently at Stamford Bridge, and then marched across the length of Britain to be at Hastings. The Normans tricked the Anglo Saxons in to leaving their strong defensive position at the top of the hill. Harold Godwinson was killed during the battle.
