12 A King’s Death King Edward had several strokes and slipped into a coma
He briefly awoke from his coma, and declared that Harold Godwinson (non-viking Harald) shall be the next King of Enlgand On January 5, 1066, at the age of 62, King Edward died

13 Question #2: Who do you think will be chosen to be the next king? Why?
The vassals of the King of England gather to decide who will be the next king… Do they follow Edward’s dying wish and give the throne to Harold Godwinson? OR Do they fulfill Edward’s fifteen year promise and give the throne to one of his few remaining living relatives, Duke William of Normandy?

14 The Nobles present at Edward’s death announce Harold Godwinson is the new King of England. Harold accepts the offer.

15 Bad Weather prevents him from sailing across the English Channel
News of Edward's death and Harold’s coronation is carried across the channel to William, Duke of Normandy. William is furious - he claimed that the throne of England should be his. William decides to attack England and organizes a fleet of warships. Bad Weather prevents him from sailing across the English Channel

16 At the same time, Harald Hardrada, King of Norway, sets sail from Norway to reclaim the throne for the Vikings, since Edward had no kids

Write a newscast (one paragraph length, 8-10 sentences) describing the events of the Norman Invasion. A newscast describes the events and developments of a story to inform the public about an event. Requirements/must include: 1. at least three specific events from the invasion- events must be in chronological order 2. all three contenders to the throne, and descriptions of their claim to the throne 3. the outcome of the Norman Invasion (what ended up happening and what did this mean for Europe?)
