Crime, Punishment and Policing revision session! IN SECTION A YOU PICK TWO QUESTIONS FROM THREE. IN SECTION B, YOU PICK ONE QUESTION FROM THREE.

Describe…(4) Describe the crime of heresy in Tudor England. [4] Describe the crime of Luddism.. [4] Describe the crime of Vagrancy in Tudor England. [4] Describe the crime of Smuggling in the seventeenth century. [4]. This one wants you to show off your knowledge in detail of a key aspect of the course. Try to mention as many different points as you can using specific information. AT LEAST THREE SENTENCES. 3

Using sources B and C and your own knowledge explain… (6 marks) This one wants you to use both sources AND your knowledge to explain something. MENTION BOTH SOURCES BY LETTER! 4

The introduction of the car can be seen as a turning point as it led to new types of crime such as... The car led to the creation of these new crimes because... As well as leading to the creation of new crimes the development of the motor car has led to increased opportunities to commit more established crimes such as... The development of the motor car was a turning point in causing new types of crime because... 5

Then on to Section B By this time you should roughly have 15-20 minutes to go REMEMBER! YOU only answer one of the three questions in section B.

Have methods of crime always been successful from Tudor times to the present day? (10) YOU MUST MENTION DEVELOPMENTS IN EACH OF THE THREE PERIODS WE HAVE COVERED. T I M There will always be a list of things which you should include, try to include other things also. Aim to do AT LEAST a paragraph on each of the periods we have studied and a judgement.

How far have the causes of crime changed from Tudor times to the present day? [10] In the Tudor period there were several key causes of crime. One major cause was religion. When Henry VIII changed England from a Catholic to a Protestant country it led to a huge increase in Heresy because… Poverty was another major cause of crime…. Poverty continued to be a major cause of crime in the Industrial period. Poverty caused crimes such as… New technology caused a great deal of crime… The layout of the new cities which sprung up in the late eighteenth century also led to crime because… In the modern period, poverty still leads to some crime however, issues such as religion, greed, new developments in technology and different social pressures and expectations also lead to crime… In my opinion, some key causes such as poverty, have consistently present over the last five hundred years, however…

Last thoughts…. Try to tackle your 8 mark and 6 mark questions first. Keep an eye on the time. Save any questions you don’t feel confident on until you have tackled the rest. ATTEMPT ALL OF THE QUESTIONS THAT YOU HAVE PICKED!
