Peer Evaluation Training

Training Objective Task: Train TACs on how cadets will execute Peer Evaluation program Condition: Block of instruction taught by Dep Comm for Leadership followed by discussion and questions and answers Standard: TACs demonstrate knowledge of program and willingness to implement

Background Cadets rank order every other cadet in their company by class Only indication of standing is rank number No additional feedback provided Cadets briefed on results during annual feedback session

Proposed Peer Evaluation Cadets will only evaluate cadets in their class Most familiar with that cohort Will fill out questionnaire on each cadet Provides structured framework to focus inputs Questions focus on Moral-Ethical conduct Results will assist TACs in certifying cadets in the Moral-Ethical Pillar

This cadet upholds the core values   Strongly disagree Disagree Neither agree nor disagree Agree Strongly agree Unable to assess This cadet upholds the core values This cadet lives by the spirit of the honor code This cadet makes what he/she believes are the right choices even if they are unpopular with fellow cadets This cadet is someone I would want to have on my team When faced with stressful situations, this cadet works well with his/her people to get the job done This cadet seems to balance well all the demands in his/her life This cadet personally accepts responsibility for the performance of his/her unit This cadet lives by the same standards in “off- duty personal life” as in “on-duty cadet life”

Execution Cadets will complete Peer Eval during designated LTP on 3 Dec 15 Form has been incorporated into CAS and cadets will fill it out on-line Intent is for all cadets to use the 1-hour block to accomplish Window for completion will remain open for 24 hours to accommodate Corps Squad cadets who miss LTP If not available for 24 hour window your inputs will not be captured If the program does not end up in CAS the form will be filled out manually and turned in at the end of the class

Feedback/Certification CAS will generate consolidated report for TACs with results of each cadet’s Peer Evaluation If not in CAS TACs will interpret data individually TACs will include Peer Eval results as part of annual required cadet counseling TACs may use this information to assist in certifying cadets in M-E Pillar

Conclusion Intent of new Peer Eval program is to provide cadets with more actionable feedback Provides TAC with more actionable information to certify cadets in M-E Pillar Provides cadets with a better framework to evaluate peers who they know best Any feedback/thoughts on how to improve class?
