What is The Alchemy Exchange? The Alchemy Exchange is a unique and cost-effective way of accessing the latest business and management thinking Provides businesses with expert knowledge and a unique perspective to ensure their needs are satisfied through individually tailored programmes of work Consultancy and research based work carried out by student associates and academics all managed by experienced project leaders Associates are recruited to a ‘talent pool’ and selected for projects which fit their skills and ability.

Why did I get involved with The Alchemy Exchange? The opportunity to work with real companies and offer real positive change Improve and acquire a host of skills for use in a non-academic environment Enhancement of employability prospects The opportunity to work with sectors I may have never had the chance to in the future The chance to take part in training events and networking sessions To find out how theory helps in the real world of business Flexibility.

What projects have I completed? 1 project for a Sheffield based steel bar manufacturer Implementation of a culture more focused on innovation to capitalise on creative ideas and offer them to the market TAE was asked to carry out a cultural analysis and present recommendations for a way ahead the new culture will revolve around the innovation task team designed to offer an open forum for the creation and management of new products and processes through-life.

What did I gain from this project? The opportunity to experience a new industry Adding value to a real business and putting theory in practice Enhancement of career prospects New skills such as report writing for a non-academic purpose Identification of areas to improve on .

An internal project at Sheffield Hallam – Business Advantage Exploring how universities world-wide engage with organisations to prepare and deliver tailored up skilling courses for employers. What will I gain from this project? Vital research skills Experience in another part of the public sector The chance to influence the strategic direction for a new and potentially successful programme.
