I can understand that… Phospholipids form bilayers in water due to the amphipathic properties of phospholipid molecules. Membrane proteins are diverse in terms of structure, position in the membrane, and function. Cholesterol is a component of animal cell membranes.

Selective permeability Some non-polar substances are transported directly through the lipid bilayer. Smaller non-polar molecules move faster than larger ones. Some polar substances, particularly ions and carbohydrates, are transported across the membrane via the channel proteins.
