Students are eligible under ESERS (Special Ed & Related Services) OR • Only students who meet eligibility criteria for one or more disability categories may be considered for special education services under IDEA. ESLS (Speech Only) • Students cannot be considered to have a disability if there is a lack of appropriate instruction in reading or math, or if they have limited English proficiency.

WHAT ARE THE SPECIAL EDUCATION & RELATED SERVICES ESERS CATEGORIES? Autism Deaf-blindness Emotional Disturbance Hearing Impairments Intellectually Disabled Multiple Disabilities Other Health Impaired Specific Learning Disabilities Orthopedic Impairments Traumatic Brain Injury Visual Impairments Speech/Language Disabilities

GOAL SETTING: What are some ideas for SEPAC THIS YEAR?

Next Meeting: Nov 14th Riverdale November 14th will be a COMBINED SEPAC MEETING with Riverdale & Pompton Lakes Public Schools The NJCIE (New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education) will be presenting at the  November 14th SEPAC meeting that begins at 7:00pm. Title: Putting the Pieces Together: How Inclusion and Least Intrusive Supports “Work” Audience: Parents/Guardians Description: This workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to better understand key concepts when including students with disabilities in their neighborhood schools and why implementing the “least intrusive” supports is essential for developing student independence. As a result of this training, participants will be able to:        Ø Discuss the benefits and importance of fostering independence, autonomy and inclusion with students of ANY age;        Ø Identify the importance of implementing “least intrusive” academic and behavioral supports when including students with disabilities; and        Ø Describe three ways to make the IEP process more inclusive, individualized, and person- centered. We hope to see you at Riverdale!  If you have any questions, please contact us at 973 835-7100 (x1540)
