Two Stories about Adultery David – The king who failed. Joseph – The slave who feared God.

David was a King in Israel.

One day while in his palace he saw a woman who was taking a bath.

Instead of giving her privacy, he called her to his palace.

He took her as his wife even though she was already married.

David sent her husband, Uriah, to the front of a dangerous battle where he died.

David lived with his guilty secret but his sin bothered him.

Later the prophet Nathan came to tell David a story.

Once there was a poor man who had only one sheep.

His neighbor was very rich and had many sheep.

When a visitor came to his house, the rich man stole the poor man’s sheep and prepared dinner for his guest.

David said, the rich man deserves to die!

David, YOU are the man in the story!

David repented of his sin. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight. Psalm 51

Second Story - Joseph and Potiphar’s Wife

Joseph’s brothers hated him. Joseph, take this coat as my favorite son.

Joseph, now let’s see what happens to you! They threw him in a hole. Joseph, now let’s see what happens to you!

I’ll give you 30 pieces of silver for this boy. They sold him as a slave. I’ll give you 30 pieces of silver for this boy.

But Joseph became the head worker in Potiphar's house. I am in charge of Potiphar’s business.

But Potiphar’s wife had here eye on Joseph That new slave boy is handsome!

But you are Potiphar’s wife! Come sleep with me. But you are Potiphar’s wife! He has given me everything in this house but you.

How can I do this great evil and sin against God? Joseph ran. How can I do this great evil and sin against God?

Joseph was put in jail. He lost his freedom but he kept his purity.

The seventh commandment You shall not commit adultery.
