SPEAKING 7 9/11/books/museums

Task 1. You are going to read the text aloud. You have 1 Task 1. You are going to read the text aloud. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, and then be ready to read it aloud. Remember that you will not have more than 2 minutes for reading aloud. The two sky-scrapers of the World Trade Centre, on Church Street and Liberty Street, were the tallest buildings in New York. There were more than one hundred floors, with offices, shops and restaurants inside. The ‘Windows on the World’ restaurant was one of the most famous restaurants in the city. But on the 11th of September, 2001 everything changed. At 8.46 a.m. on that day an American Airlines plane crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Centre. Seventeen minutes later another plane crashed into the South Tower. Nobody can forget this catastrophe. People all across the world watched it on TV and saw the last minutes of the two big towers. Thousands of people died in and near the Centre. Today this place is called Ground Zero. It is one of the unhappiest moments of American history.
