11. 9:58am – The South Tower fell – 56 minutes after the plane hit. 10:28am – The North Tower fell – an hour and 42 minutes after it was hit.

12. In 1979 Russia invaded Afghanistan. Osaba Bin Laden traveled there to assist the Afghans against the Russians. While there he became more radical. He issued several statements, called fatwas calling for Americans to remove their troops from Saudi Arabia. The second was disapproving of American foreign policy. He used religious writings to persuade Muslims to attack Americans until his demands could be met. He declared a holy war against the United States. Why?

13. The idea was presented to Bin Laden in 1996. After he became more and more radical in 1998, he turned most of his attention to attacking the United States. He provided leadership and financial backing for the plot. He also had a hand in picking the participants.

16. 2,996 people died that day, in a less than 2 hour window. Over 6,000 were injured. The United States would never really be the same again.

19. The medical examiner’s office began to add people to the death toll who died of illnesses caused by exposure to the dust from the site. Three people have died due to lung conditions, additionally 1,140 people exposed to the dust have been diagnosed with cancer. Over 1,400 rescue workers have died since the 9/11 attacks. At least 11 unborn babies died on 9/11 as well.
