What do you need to know? Fast Forward Program Graduation Requirements Post High-School Choices Naviance

Graduation Requirements ISATs- Reading, Language, Math, & Science Senior Project- proficient Total Credits Earned- 56 Take a college prep exam (SAT/ACT)

Fast Forward Program $4125 Per Student Concurrent College Credits & AP Exams Portal Open for 6 Weeks/Strict Deadline set by state *If you sign up to take a year long course for concurrent credit, cannot transfer after semester or get F on college transcript* 4 Steps Fast Forward participation form filled out in PowerSchool Create Account in Fast Forward Portal / Verify account through email Request Funding for EACH concurrent course Complete the university registration

Credit breakdown- 56 total English------------------- 8 credits Speech------------------- 1 credit Math (HS Math I + HS Math II.)--------(2credits during 12th grade) 6 credits Science------------------ Soc. Sciences-----------

Credit breakdown- cont. P.E.----------------------- 2 credits Health------------------- 1 credit Humanities-------------- Electives------------------ 12 credits Totaling at least 56 credits All 34 core classes passed

College Prep Test What tests count as “college prep”? At this point, ACT and SAT Which test should you take (ACT or SAT)? Most schools will take either score. East coast schools are more likely to require an SAT Some scholarships will ask for both

Test Time… State Dept. of Ed – all Juniors will take a college prep exam. SAT- April 10th (this test is paid for by the state)- more details will come- as we get them. Can you take another test at another time? Yes, but you will pay for that other test.

PSAT Is the PSAT the same as the SAT? No, the PSAT is a practice test that helps you prepare for the SAT. Wednesday, October 11th Sign up with the bookkeeper by Wed. Sept. 22th Cost $25 1st come 1st serve National Merit Scholarship Competition Junior year only

How Many Schools Should I Consider? Start with between 5 and 10 schools Narrow the list to between 3 and 5 schools Look at admission requirements Ex. California (2 years of history, 1 year performing arts, etc.) Visit the schools if possible Begin the application process Fall of Senior Year Gather the admission materials- Most applications are on-line

Are High School requirements the same as University entrance requirements? No, they are not. Depending on the school you are looking at, there are different requirements. How do you know if you have done enough to be accepted into your school of choice? Be familiar with your own transcript. Know the classes you have taken, your GPA, and those you plan to take next year. You need to access that school’s admissions requirements, typically posted on their web pages, and do some research. If your credits earned/planned are not going to be enough, you need to make a plan- how will you correct this?

Do you plan to play a sport in college Do you plan to play a sport in college? (counselor should be your best friend) If you plan to play at a division I or II school- You must go through the NCAA Clearinghouse- https://web1ncaa.org/eligibilitycenter/common/ They will want transcripts ACT/SAT scores sent directly to NCAA- code 9999 Review course work with Counselor- different requirements! If you plan to play at an NAIA school – Register with the NAIA- www.playnaia.org Send Transcripts ACT/SAT- scores directly to NAIA- code 9876

Where Can I find Information about the Military? Career Center Recruiters visit usually twice a month Call a recruiter- contact information is in the Career Center Internet Speak with friends and family Be informed!!! Look at all branches and find the one that best fits you!! Remember you are making a big commitment!

What do I need to enter the Workforce? Letter of Application Resume- includes Courses taken Clubs Accomplishments Volunteer Work Employment history Letters of Reference Teachers/coaches Employers Religious leaders/mentors Possibly a portfolio of work
