Primary Care management of breast lump in females younger than 30 years without personal or family history of breast/ ovarian cancer Discrete lump <30 mm Lump > 30mm Diffuse nodularity/ thickening Direct referral by GP for USS Re-examine the patient in 4-6 weeks following her next menstrual period and if persistent, refer for direct USS. Any concerns or associated breast symptoms such as bloody nipple discharge/changes in breast shape or size/skin changes. Imaging confirms benign breast condition GP reassures and advises patient to monitor and return if increases in size Refer 2 week wait. Any concerns or associated breast symptoms such as pain or other nipple discharge Increasing in size Routine referral to Breast clinic
