EGNRET 2006 Proposed Alternative Fuel Projects 6/1/2018 EGNRET 2006 Proposed Alternative Fuel Projects Presentation to the First Meeting of the Biofuels Task Force Singapore 15 May 2006 Cary Bloyd Test

New EGNRET Projects Proposed in 2006 : Project 1 6/1/2018 New EGNRET Projects Proposed in 2006 : Project 1 APEC 21st Century Renewable Energy Development Initiative (Collaborative IX): Establishment of the Guidelines for the Development of Biodiesel Standards in the APEC Region : ASF Thailand lead, $75,000 total/$50,000 APEC, cosponsors: Australia, Mexico, Chinese Taipei, New Zealand, and USA Start: March 2007 End: November 2008 Purpose: The quality of biodiesel produced depends on the natural characteristics of feedstocks. The EN 14214:2003 and ASTM D 6751:2003 are the European and American biodiesel standards developed and currently widely used, but European and American feedstocks are differ from those in most APEC Economies. The objective of this project is to establish the guidelines for development of biodiesel standards in the APEC region for enhancing the trade of biodiesel among APEC member economies. Test

6/1/2018 Activities of Establishment of the Guidelines for the Development of Biodiesel Standards in the APEC Region(1) Review the current biodiesel standards applied in both APEC economies and non-APEC economies. Review the potential feedstocks and evaluate how their natural characteristics may affect the quality of biodiesel. Review the applicability of lessons learned on the affect of biodiesel on the diesel engines and vehicles including their emissions. Review the opportunities, gaps, barriers and lessons learned from using biodiesel as fuels with engine and automobile manufacturers in order to adopt biodiesel specifications and its blends. Test

Investigate the additives and antioxidizers necessary for biodiesel. 6/1/2018 Activities of Establishment of the Guidelines for the Development of Biodiesel Standards in the APEC Region(2) Investigate the additives and antioxidizers necessary for biodiesel. Hold expert group workshops where experts will consider and identify the parameters of biodiesel specifications affecting diesel engines and vehicles for both passenger cars and heavy duty trucks. Integrate and synthesize the information Prepare the draft final report on the guidelines and circulate for feedback. Prepare final report. Test

New EGNRET Projects Proposed in 2006 : Project 2 6/1/2018 New EGNRET Projects Proposed in 2006 : Project 2 APEC 21st Century Renewable Energy Development Initiative (Collaborative IX): Alternative Transport Fuels – Implementation Guidelines (ASF New Zealand lead, $75,000 total/$50,000 APEC, cosponsors: Australia, Mexico, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, and USA Start: January 1, 2007 End: December 31, 2008 Purpose: To provide guidelines for the implementation of successful programs for the introduction of alternative transport fuels that will be both coherent throughout APEC economies and applicable to individual economies. Test

6/1/2018 Activities of Alternative Transport Fuels – Implementation Guidelines (1) Assemble information on both successful and unsuccessful alternative transport fuel programs and projects in APEC economies and elsewhere. Source of information would include Government departments, Private Industry, Universities, NGOs, environmental organizations, multilateral agencies (eg UN, ADB, UNDP), equipment suppliers, vehicle manufacturers and trade associations. Review published papers on alternative fuel programs and projects and similar topics such as energy efficiency projects. Analyze the assembled database to identify both success and failure factors. Test

6/1/2018 Activities of Alternative Transport Fuels – Implementation Guidelines (2) Analyze the assembled database to identify both success and failure factors. Compile a database of the resources available to assist economies in implementing alternative transport fuels programs. Prepare a report on the outcome of the work that will include guidelines for the establishment of successful alternative fuels implementation programs. Test
