3 Objectives To share experiences of harmonizing M&V methodologies for increasing the reliability of energy savings of projects or organizations to promote investment in energy efficiency and contribute to a reduction in energy intensity. To improve the capacity to use international M&V standards through exchanging expertise between developed economies and developing economies. To enhance understanding of importance of M&V for ensuring credible energy performance improvement of systems or organizations through the public-private dialogue.

4 Outputs APEC participating economy reviews of M&V market, methodologies, standards, stakeholders, personnel capacity, certification program and barriers APEC workshop on Harmonizing Standards for M&V of Energy Savings of Projects or Organizations Actionable recommendations: APEC economies will identify prior areas (such as M&V procedures, calculation methods and personnel capacity) to harmonize M&V standards, proposing solutions to any identified barriers, and potential capacity building requirements from developing economies.

5 Achievements A draft questionnaire has be developed for investigating the M&V market, methodologies, standards, stakeholders, personnel capacity, certification program, and technical/policy barriers in APEC economies. The questionnaire has been circulated to APEC SCSC members in December, 2014. The questionnaire has also been circulated among APEC EGEE&C. 20 answers from 10 economies have been collected. Preliminary analysis on the feedback has been conducted by the implementation team. The draft agenda of the Harmonizing APEC M&V Standards and Capacity Building Workshop has been prepared.

6 Next steps Analyze the feedback of the questionnaire for M&V in APEC
Solicit participation of regulators and experts from each economy Hold the in-person workshop. The tentative arrangement: Date: the second week of October Venue: China Prepare the draft recommendations

7 Call for Action Following economies will be asked to help to complete the M&V questionnaire Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Russia, and United States Economies will be asked to provide speaker recommendations Economies will be asked to send delegates to the in-person workshop in October, 2015
