2 Pioneering Science and Technology Office of Science U.S. Department of Energy 2 Implementing APEC EWG Projects 1. Propose concept at second EGNRET meeting of the year (Nov. 05) Example, use of off grid technologies from village power applications for disaster response 2. Develop two page concept proposal for submission to EWG one month prior (March 15, 06) to their first meeting of the year. 3. Project is completed by the end of the second year (Dec. 1 2008)

3 Pioneering Science and Technology Office of Science U.S. Department of Energy 3 Proposal: Alternative Transport Fuels in APEC Self-funded project, led by EGNRET and the EBN in association with EGCFE, EGEDA, APERC, EWG, ISTWG, and industry associations. -Timeframe: short, med, long term -Stage of commercial development (bench, pilot, commercial) -Availability across APEC region -Apparent economies of scale -Infrastructure requirement -Environmental implications -Trade implications -Business case for specific alternative (Possible Japanese sponsored workshop Sept. 06?)
