First Grade Homework & Classroom News: August 14th-18th Homework Menu: Choose one appetizer and one main course to do for homework every night. If you are still hungry for practice, help yourself to some dessert! Appetizer (5 minutes) Practice any of the listed Daily Math skills Main Course(15 minutes) Read a “just-right book” to a stuffed animal or a family member for 13 minutes. Spend 2 minutes retelling what you read. Dessert (10 minutes) Go on to the class website and explore some of the ELA and Math games linked on the Web Resources page. Word family words: Coming soon  Daily Math skills: We will be starting the skills associated with the math curriculum next week and spending this week practicing number routines and building number sense. Here are some skills you can practice at home! Counting to and from any number within 120 draw dots to represent numbers from 0-20 Counting handfuls of items (cereal, pennies, paper clips) STEM focus and Words of the week Questions: What makes a classroom a community? Challenges: Design and build a classroom that fits the needs of our class Words to know: Ask, Plan, Design, Create, Improve, Share, Engineer

Homework and Newsletter August 14th-18th A note from the teachers… We are thrilled with how the year has started and have truly enjoyed getting to know each, individual student. We are working hard to practice classroom procedures and expectations. We are also spending a lot of time figuring out where each child is academically so that we can meet their needs to the best of our abilities. Thank you for communicating clearly and helping your children get to school on time. We are looking forward to our first full week of school at Innovation Academy!
