Fully Committed to “Being Thankful”

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17 NIV

“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.” 1 Timothy 6:17 NIV

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV

“Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” Ephesians 5:19-20 NIV

Everyone has something to be thankful for Even if it doesn’t seem like much, it’s something If we only have food and clothing, it’s still something to be thankful for – I Timothy 6:6-8 If we can walk, see, hear, taste, that’s something to be thankful for Too often we take the simple things in life for granted (ill – worn shoes / no legs)

Everyone has something to be thankful for The fact is, most of us have a lot to be thankful for A great country, freedom, prosperity, health . . . – 1 Timothy 6:17-19 Every day we’re afforded unlimited opportunities with endless possibilities (ill – grocery store) Anyone who takes just a moment to reflect, will find plenty of things to be thankful for

Everyone has someone to be thankful to All the people who have blessed our lives Our families, our friends, those who have educated us, encouraged us, helped us, and often put up with us It’s important to let people know how much we appreciate what they have done – Philippians 1:3-4; Colossians 1:3; 1 Thessalonians 1:2

Everyone has someone to be thankful to Our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ For creating us and blessing our lives so richly – Psalm 100; 1 Timothy 6:17 For saving us from our sins and giving us the hope of eternal life! – 1 Timothy 1:12-17; Titus 2:11-14

Everyone has someway to express thanks Simply saying “thank you” It’s important to express our thanks – Psalms; Hebrews 13:15 God expects us to be thankful! – Luke 17:11-19

Everyone has someway to express thanks Living every day of our lives in grateful service Thankfulness is better seen than heard – (ill - quote JFK) 1 Corinthians 15:9-10 This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome – 1 John 5:3 Are you Fully Committed to “Being Thankful”?
