What is Heritage? Heritage – practices that handed down form one generation to the next.

What is Culture? Culture- behaviors and attitude of a particular group of people. Religion Food Clothing Music Celebrations

Mardi Gras Mardi Gras is a celebration that takes place in Louisiana. The largest Mardi Gras is in New Orleans. One of the main events of Mardi Gras are the parades. Parades usually have floats with riders, bands, and other performers.

Jazz Fest New Orleans Jazz and heritage Festival is a large festival held in New Orleans every Spring. Jazz Fest celebrates the types of music popular in New Orleans. These include: blues, R&B, gospel music, Cajun music, zydeco, Afro-Caribbean, folk music, Latin, rock, rap music, country music, bluegrass, and everything in between. And of course there is lots of jazz, both contemporary and traditional.

Jazz Music Jazz music began in New Orleans around 1900. It was first played by African Americans. Some instruments that are used to play jazz are saxophones, trumpets, and trombones.
