State and District Testing Calendar 2017-2018 8/31/17

State Testing Changes ACT Aspire Grades 3-8 and 10 will no longer be Administered. Scantron Performance Series will replace Aspire in grades 3-8. Students in Grades 3-8 will take the Math, Science and Reading subtests of the Scantron assessment. Students in Grades 3-8 will take the Scantron in September of 2017 for the purposes of obtaining a baseline score. Students in Grades 3-8 will take the Scantron April 16th- May 4th in order to obtain both an achievement and growth score. PSAT will be offered by the SDE to all Grade 11 students. Test Date-October 25th.

State Testing Changes Students in grades 4,5,6,7 and 8 will take the Scantron science subtest. Only grades 5 and 7 took the Aspire science test. Grade 10 will no longer take a state assessment. Scantron will replace Aspire for the purposes of both state and federal requirements. Scantron will only be used for the 2017-2018 SY. For Schools with a K-8 configuration Scantron results will be used for calculation of the A-F state report card. For High schools the ACT Plus Writing will be used for the A-F state report card. .

District Testing Changes STAR testing in grades K-12, for the purposes of progress monitoring, will be administered in the fall, winter and spring. This is two less administrations of the STAR than the 2016-2017 school year. DIBELS testing will continue in Grades K-3. Summary- One additional test administration will be added to the state testing calendar.
