2 What is PASS? PASS is the new South Carolina state accountability test. Palmetto Assessment of State Standards PASS replaces the PACT. Students first took PASS in Spring of 2009.

3 So, what’s the difference between PACT and PASS?
4 Sections ELA (Reading and Writing) Math Science Social Studies Question Types Multiple Choice Constructed Response Extended Response (Writing prompt) Students classified as Below Basic, Basic, Proficient, or Advanced Administered in one week in the Spring PASS 5 sections Reading and Research Writing Math Science Social Studies Question Types Multiple Choice Extended Response (Writing prompt) Students classified as Not Met, Met, or Exemplary Writing administered in March. Other sections administered in May

4 How will the scores look?
The “passing” grade of Met on PASS for all grades is a score of 600. The following slides show how students across the state performed by grade level.

10 When can I expect to see my child’s scores?
Since this is the first year, individual student reports will be delivered with your child’s January report card. In the future, the results will be available sooner.
