A CULTURE of believing God (FAITH)

A CULTURE of the PROPHETIC: Strengthening, Encouraging, Comforting

Being a prophetic people of God is a mysterious thing; that doesn’t mean it needs to be an inaccessible mystery.

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 What is God’s heart for prophecy?

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 Revelation 19:10 - At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 What is God’s heart for prophecy? Bearing testimony to Jesus

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 1 Corinthians 14:1 - Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 What is God’s heart for prophecy? Bearing testimony to Jesus Follow the way of love

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 1 Corinthians 14:1-6 - Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort. Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church.

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 1 Corinthians 14:1-6 - I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified. Now, brothers and sisters, if I come to you and speak in tongues, what good will I be to you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or word of instruction?

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 What is God’s heart for prophecy? Bearing testimony to Jesus Follow the way of love Strengthening, encouraging & comfort

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 What is God’s heart for prophecy? Bearing testimony to Jesus Follow the way of love Strengthening, encouraging & comfort Unbelievers are called to faith in Jesus

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 1 Corinthians 14:24-25 - But if an unbeliever or an inquirer comes in while everyone is prophesying, they are convicted of sin and are brought under judgment by all, as the secrets of their hearts are laid bare. So they will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, “God is really among you!”

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 What is God’s heart for prophecy? What is God’s design for prophecy?

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 1 Corinthians 14:33 - For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 1 Corinthians 14:33 - For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people. 1 Corinthians 14:39-40 - Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 What is God’s heart for prophecy? What is God’s design for prophecy? Shepherding

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 1 Peter 5:1-3 - To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 Ephesians 4:11-13 - So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 What is God’s heart for prophecy? What is God’s design for prophecy? Shepherding Relationship for equipping

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 Mike Hanchett, who we recognize has an Ephesians 4 prophetic gift, has been invited by Church in the City to come and minister to us.

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 What is God’s heart for prophecy? What is God’s design for prophecy? Shepherding Relationship for equipping Intended for maturity

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 Eagerly desire to prophesy

Strengthen, Encourage, Comfort 1 Cor. 14 // Eph. 4 // Rev. 19 // 1 Peter 5 Eagerly desire to prophesy 1 Corinthians 14:26 - What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.
