5 What kinds of actions are hands particularly useful for?

6 1st Corinthians 12:15, “Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.” 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

7 1st Corinthians 12:15,  “The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty,

8 1st Corinthians 12:15,  while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.”

9 Rules for good principles:
Your principle must come directly from the teaching of the text. Your principle must be true for all Christ-followers of all parts of the world in every century of the church. Your principle must not violate other clear teachings of the Bible.

10 Possible Good Principles:
God made us different for a reason! God loves diversity in His family but with unity. Every believer matters to God & the Body of Christ, the church.

11 Possible Good Principles:
We really need everyone in the church. We should not depreciate anybody’s contributions… including our own (Rom. 12:3-6)

12 Romans 12:3-6 “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.”

13 Possible Good Principles:
We really need everyone in the church. We should not depreciate anybody’s contributions… including our own (Rom. 12:3-6) Caring for each other is our calling as Christians.

14 Ephesians 4:7,  But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it…. 11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

15 Ephesians 4:7,  Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.  15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

16 WHY does God give different gifts to different people in the body of Christ? HOW does this passage say these things are supposed to happen?

17 WHY does God give different gifts to different people in the body of Christ?
To equip all of us for “works of service. To build up the body of Christ. To lead us to unity To help us become mature in Christ.

18 HOW does this passage say these things are supposed to happen?
1. Through gifted leadership. 2. Through everyone working 3. Through speaking the truth in love 4. Through being joined together 5. Through everyone doing their part 6. Through everyone built up in love
