Chambersburg Area School District Educational Pathways Chambersburg Area School District

Definition: An educational pathway is a continuum of study which prepares students with academic and career skills needed for entry into a broad cluster of careers and/or admission into a postsecondary education.

Purpose: K-12 curriculum for students Student motivation, career awareness and career exploration Lifelong learning and decision making

Educational Pathways: Fine Arts and Humanities Health, Science, and Human Services Business Technology Engineering/Industrial

Chambersburg Area School District Model In 8th grade Careers class, students are encouraged to think seriously about their futures and plan an educational program. During course selection, students assisted by their parents and teachers select an educational pathway and related courses.

Choosing a Pathway The 8th grade Career Class helps the students accomplish the following goals: Identify natural aptitudes and developed abilities. Identify interests. Recognize the four career clusters. Obtain information for realistic career/academic planning.

Choosing a Pathway Recognize examples of career titles that are associated with different educational pathways. Pathways are divided into traditional and technical sequences.

Pathway Model Core academic course will remain the same for both sequences. CASHS elective will be categorized by pathway. Example: FINE ARTS & HUMANITIES -Landscaping & Turf Grass Mgt. -Creative Writing

Pathway Model All student swill have the opportunity to take courses at Career Tech related to their educational pathway. Career Tech shops have been aligned with the educational pathways at CASHS.
