Advanced Integrative Energy Healing (AIEH) January 2017 Internship Presentation by Mechthild Maczewski, Ph.D.

Story I’m here to introduce/advocate for a complementary healing approach called (A)IEH because it had and continues to have profound effects for others around me as well as on my own life. What was most amazing was the sense of wholeness as a person and a sense of knowing that came out of these treatments, that I had never experienced before. What AIEH can facilitate for and with the client is a deep connection with the body and an authentic self, which “somehow” seems to facilitate emotional, mental, physical and spiritual health. It does so with a variety of processes, primarily working with the Biofield together with somatic experiencing, awareness dialogue and character structures.

Biofield Therapies “Complementary medicine therapies that involve the intentional alternation of subtle energy to elicit a healing response” (Jain, Science of Energy Healing, 2016, p.2) E.g., Reiki, Healing Touch, Pranic Healing Review of studies (of medium methodological quality): strongest evidence found for reduction of pain (Jain, Science of Energy Healing, 2016, p.2)

Definition: Well-being Illness, pain, emotional disturbance or any other type of discomfort is a signal that we are out of balance in some aspect of our being. Some activity, habit, or perception is misaligned with what we need in order to be healthy. Healing is the process by which one is restored from this state of dis-harmony to a state of balance and wellness. It does not necessarily mean curing or eliminating symptoms, but gaining awareness and a new perception of all the parts that make up the whole individual. Healing only comes about through change. Sometimes we are required to take on something new and other times we need to let go. It is up to each of us to determine what we need in order to become whole. Core Components of AIEH Human Energy Field Chakra System Knowledge Awareness Dialogue Art of Body Reading Trauma Theory Electives Previous Training I n t e g r a l Y o g a P s y c h o l o g y

AIEH Integrative Energy Healing (IEH) is a gentle, non-invasive healing technique based in Eastern Integral Yoga Psychology and Western Science – merging knowledges. IEH works primarily with the Human Energy Energy Field or Biofield. AIEH theory believes that the biofield holds and patterns the consciousness of the whole organism including its physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions. Its goal is to assist the client in clearing energetic blockages, assisting in the creation of a coherent / aligned Biofield that in turn facilitates an increased sense of well-being.

What is the Human Energy Field?

Coherent Biofield Coherence, alignment – choice of words – look at who uses what… Biofield (Oschman, Physiology), Human Energy Field (Brennan), Universal Energy Field (UEF)

Lack of Biofield Coherence

Coherence

AIEH Coherence Building Practices Energetic meditation, intentions, visualizations, biofeedback Physical exercise, breathing practices, somatic awareness Mental & Emotional: awareness of thoughts, emotions – shift to positivity e.g. WHEE, positive affirmations, feeling the higher vibration, self- regulation techniques Spiritual awareness dialogue: Gaining clarity on life purpose and connection to self and others Biofeedback (Heartmath)

Possible AIEH Benefits Self awareness Improved mobility Self empowerment Integral self care practices Improved quality of sleep Improved mood and clarity Anxiety and stress reduction Relaxation of muscle tension Increased energy and vitality Chronic and acute pain relief Stress tolerance and resilience Balancing mind, body and spirit Nervous system regulation skills Traumatic experience resolution Stimulates body innate healing mechanisms

Biofield Coherence – Client Self-reported Experience Pain reduction Increased sense of well-being Sense of relaxation, calmness “I feel whole again” ”I regained my power” Increase in self-awareness And therefore we would love you to refer clients to us!

Biofield Coherence Effects Review of studies (of medium methodological quality): strongest evidence found for reduction of pain (Jain, Science of Energy Healing, 2016, p.2) At the highest level of organization, each life form may possess an innate biologic field, or biofield, a complex, dynamic, weak energy field involved in maintaining the integrity of the whole organism, regulating its physiologic and biochemical responses, and integral to development, healing, and regeneration (Rubik, 1993, 1997, 2002b). http://www.faim.org/measurement-of-the- human-biofield-and-other-energetic-instruments Immune system boosting… (reference)

Goals of AIEH Alignment Coherence Overarching goal is to balance the chakras / to regulate the nervous system. In other words: the reprogramming, re- patterning of existing energetic and neurological pathways To facilitate the alignment/coherence of your bio-field, the subtle energy body, in order to: increase a sense of well-being increase mental, emotional, physical, spiritual awareness assist in the bodies self healing processes

What does AIEH teach clients? Somatic Awareness, e.g. Identifying strengths in the body Identifying where stress is held Self-regulation Techniques, e.g. Meditation Visualization Alternate tapping Breathing techniques

Concluding remarks Exciting and a passion for this because… “For millenia, genetics has evolved by random mutation, by random chance. Now we’re actually using our consciousness to change our gene expression. When you tap, when you meditate, and you then turn down your cortisol producing genes, turn up your DHEA genes, when you’re a more healthy, peaceful person, just as the result of the conscious decision to take care of yourself, now we have consciousness interacting with biology. That’s never happened in an evolutionary scale before.”
