Guidance on Electric and electronic producs Consumer safety - Official CE markings […] is manufacturer’s assurance that the product meets the safety requirements of the Low Voltage Directive and the Electromagnetic Compatibility directive. Life cycle impacts - Official Restriction on certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) bans 6 substances EU Chemical regulation REACH aims at gradually out phasing the Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) by authorization requirements (currently on 22 substances) and other obligations for defined substances (currently 155 on candidate list) Eco design directive guides towards improved energy and material efficiency. The product specific criteria are enforced on e.g. ovens, wash machines and vacuum cleaners Energy label is obligatory for energy using household equipment Life cycle impacts - Voluntary Eco label defines composition and production conditions for certain equipment e.g. on computers, printers and TVs

Guidance on textile producs REACH (Annex 17) Öko-tex EU Eco label Fair trade Fiber production 124 banned substances Production process Ban for 8 substances or substance groups Limit for aquatic emissions (wool, cotton, linen…) Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emission limit (polyamide) Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) atmospheric emission limit (polyester) Metal content limit Residuals Limit for 177 residual substances Limit for 16 heavy metals (20-1500 ppm), 20 other substances Raw materials Biodegradability requirement for glues, additives, detergents Limit for poly aromatic hydrocarbons, VOC and formaldehyde Ban for 62 substances and for substances in 12 different hazard-classes Emphasis Consumer safety Life cycle impacts (focus on environmental protection) Occupational safety
