Presentation transcript:

Modern Foreign Languages at Marlborough Primary School In Marlborough Primary school we teach a foreign language (French) as part of our school curriculum. We believe that children really enjoy learning to speak another language and the earlier a child is exposed to a foreign language, the faster they acquire language in question. Learning a foreign language will help develop pupils confidence at speaking aloud and will also help them to understand more about the English language. Through learning a new language it can help children understand their own culture/s and those of others

Learning French Our aims are: To foster an interest in learning other languages. To introduce young children to another language in a way that is enjoyable and fun. To make young children aware that language has structure, and that the structure differs from one language to another. To help children develop their awareness of cultural and differences in other countries. To develop their speaking and listening skills.

As part of lessons we may: Play games Read well known stories in French Take part in role-play and drama Learn and perform songs Write postcards
