Selena Gomez is the ambassador of Unicef Selena Gomez is the ambassador of Unicef. She joined Unicef in September of 2009.She helped Unicef with their emergency fund by having a concert for Unicef. A quote from Selena Gomez; “UNICEF is helping Chilean families get out of poverty, prevent violence within the home and promote education—to witness first hand these families' struggles, and also their hope and perseverance, was truly inspiring." -Selena Gomez

Selena was the National Spokesperson for the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign for three consecutive years from 2008-2010 and has also lent her support to other UNICEF initiatives including the UNICEF Tap Project, UNICEF Snowflake Ball and the Eliminate Project. Lifesaving vaccines and insecticide-treated bed nets Emergency relief following natural disasters Educational opportunities and School-in-a-Box kits And much more

The U.S. Fund for UNICEF meets the highest standards of Charity Navigator and the Better Business Bureau. 90.4 cents of every dollar we spend goes directly to help children. Only 6.7 cents goes to fundraising, and 2.9 cents to administration. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF works with governments, civic leaders, celebrities, corporations, campus groups, churches, teachers and people just like you—anyone willing to help us advocate for the survival and well-being of every child.

Since 1990, the number of children under the age of five dying annually of preventable causes has been reduced by nearly 50 percent—from 12.6 million in 1990 to 6.6 million in 2012 In January 2011, Selena traveled to Valparaiso, Chile and visited the UNICEF supported program, "Programa Puente" which helps families better understand and develops skills to deal effectively with early childhood education, development and parenting skills, and other issues related to raising children. Over the last 20 years, UNICEF has led the fight to reduce the number of preventable child deaths.
