Technology Department Annual Report April 28, 2015

Mission and Vision A shared commitment to provide the most effective education to all students so they live successful lives. In order to accomplish the mission of the district we envision using technology to further the learning community where: Students are proficient using technology and able to discern when and how to use it. Teachers use technology to support and enhance their instruction and provide learning opportunities to meet each student’s unique needs. Administrators use technology effectively to complete required functions and duties, to collaborate with other educators, and to analyze student learning. Support staff use technology effectively in their job and as a tool to support classroom needs and the learning environment. Technology staff stays current with developments and innovations in the technology field.

What is it that we do? Provide service and necessary repairs to maintain equipment 2300 computers, 200 LCD projectors, 400 printers and 150 document cameras, 200 handheld tablets and iPod touches, 1000 Chromebooks, 25 SmartBoards.

What is it that we do? Provide and maintain networking and server infrastructure 135 network switches. 40 battery backup units 75 servers 200 WiFi access points.

What is it that we do? Maintain security measures and services to protect data, prevent intrusions, update computers, maintain PCI DSS compliance, and provide cyber safe student Internet access. Perform routine daily backups of student and staff files and server configurations. Update computer operating systems for latest security updates from Microsoft. Maintain antivirus software on all district computers Update computer current web helper applications such as Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash Player, Oracle’s Java Runtime, Windows Media Player and Apple QuickTime. Maintain computer and WiFi internet filtering servers to provide a cyber space browsing experience in compliance with CIPA (Children’s Internet Protection Act). Maintain 2 firewall servers that keep intruders and hackers from accessing our servers and workstations and files from outside of the district. Maintain security measures for PCI DSS compliance due to the use of credit card readers.

What is it that we do? Provide customer service support for all instructional staff and students. Have a technology related issue, then we are here to assist you. Research technology solutions for hardware and software for procurement. Maintain user accounts for over 4000 student accounts and 650 employee accounts. Provide file storage space for students and staff. Provide access to, and synchronization with, Google for Education accounts for all staff and students.

What is it that we do? Provide technology support for other support departments including Teaching & Learning, Maintenance, Transportation, Food Services, Special Services, Human Resources and the Business Office. Support for online testing Provide computer user support for all support staff. Support for monitoring of electrical circuits and analysis Provide support for communications of HVAC remote access and security alarms Temperature gauges and alarms for food services freezers Maintain specialized software and servers for support departments

What is it that we do? Provide and maintain electronic communications services and devices Provide service and necessary repairs for district wide phone system consisting of nine phone switches, more than 600 phones, and a voice mail server. Provide email services and necessary maintenance of over 650 email accounts. Maintain email servers and email antivirus services; Maintain 4 web servers and setup access for staff to edit and update web pages in their area. Post district news releases to district web servers and Facebook pages. Setup and edit calling lists and assist staff in placing automated calling system calls.

What is it that we do? Follow legal compliances and mandatory state regulations Maintain an archive of all district emails. Assist with electronic record requests and employee investigations. Maintain current technology inventories and complete the annual technology inventory survey.

What is it that we do? Provide student safety and maintain security and surveillance cameras to monitor activity at district buildings Installation and management of security cameras. Resolve student discipline and bullying issues Money handling transactions Monitor activity at district buildings Maintain accounts for building access to cameras
